    SUMMARY: Responsible for performing complex functions related to payroll administration in addition to preparing administrative reports and ensuring compliance with payroll processes.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilizes an integrated HR/Payroll system to audit various duties such as daily time entry, verification of balances, creating and updating employee tax changes, verification of pay rates, review of system edits and production and processing of assigned payrolls. Ensure system data entry for port relief, union vacation, deductions, wage levies, and schedules are accurate and compliant with CBA. Ensure payroll related transactions are processed in compliance with external and internal policies. Prepare reports and maintain records for bonuses and sick pay. Assist management with various administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in business or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.

    EXPERIENCE: 3+ years' experience in timekeeping and/or payroll administration. Experience using Kronos and/or Oracle is preferred.

    TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook and Excel.

    COMPENTENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to indirectly mentor, coach, train and/or supervise employees. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to perform in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to compile, review and reconcile data accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Knowledge of multi-state payroll laws and general legal requirements for overtime and special pay. Knowledge of basic accounting principles such as payables, receivables, and accruals.

    OTHER: Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish) is required. Must be able to work onsite Monday through Friday, 7am – 4:30pm (subject to change based on operational needs). Must be flexible to work Saturday, Sunday and holidays as needed.

    JOB SCOPE: Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
